I Do Too Many Art Shows

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

Some people burn the candle at both ends–I microwave it.

I believe I’ve shot about 10,000 images since May, and have been bustin’ out art shows like it’s goin’ out of style. I currently have photography up in four different places in Seattle. They are as follows:

Starfish Studios – 619 Western Avenue, 4th Floor South (new work from the last three weeks) – This show is TONIGHT ONLY. Come see my fellow photogs and I tonight from 6-10 pm.

Zero Zero – 1525 Summit Avenue, in Capitol Hill (with Angel Ceballos and Daniel McManus)

Kaladi Bros.511 E Pike Street, in Capitol Hill (solo show; Food Pornography Redux)

The LASTWEAR Store – 5459 Leary Avenue N.W in Ballard (older work, mostly studio and steampunk-themed)

All of the work at these locations is priced reasonably to move. I really do not need four shows’ worth of framed prints in my house! Go buy stuff, please! <3

Thank you.

Genderforking with Bl00

Look what Lindsey and I did to Willow:

Willow Collage

Images are from a shoot the three of us did Friday evening–we were in the studio until 12:15 a.m, and it took Lindsey just over two hours to flip Willow from an androgynous transhumanoid into an extreme drag queen. I just press a button; what can I say?

Also, used seamless paper is pretty much the best prop ever.

Willow’s photo set is here, though I haven’t had much time for editing additional images–tonight I install a huge photo show with Angel Ceballos and Danny McManus, and I’ve been up to my ears in wedding photography post- and pre-production. ‘Tis the season.

More to come!

Photo Show at Zero Zero

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

I’ve arranged a very brightly-colored photo show with two of my friends/favorite photographers, Angel Ceballos and Daniel McManus!

at ZERO ZERO
1525 Summit Avenue, Seattle, WA, 98127
August 18 – September 21
Artist Reception: Saturday, August 22, 8-11 p.m.

See, a Saturday reception for folks who can’t usually make it out during the week for Art Walk! yay! The pool table will be out, and I’ll have Katamari Damacy on the big screen (in case the art isn’t entertaining enough as it is ;) .

Put this on your calendar! I’ll post again when it gets closer to the event, too.

Thank you.

MAKE: Lost Knowledge

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

For anyone wondering, the art opening last week at Utilikilts went smoothly–tons of lovely people showed up to drink wine, sample chocolates, and gawk at the hot chicks on the walls.  A handful of kids started a dance party in the back of the store–how many art openings do you get to attend with their own hip-hop dance floor?! I met a number of interesting individuals including several gentlemen in bowlers, double-breasted vests, and handmade hakama (we smoked fat cigars and talked about how clothing is really just social networking, after all).

Thanks to everyone who came out! The show’s up until the end of the month if you didn’t get a chance to drop by at art walk.

I’m also pleased to mention that I’m in the current issue of MAKE Magazine, along with a number of my dear warranty-voiding friends (that’s the handsome-pants Jake von Slatt right on the cover!)

Volume 17: MAKE Volume 17 goes really old school with the Lost Knowledge issue, featuring projects and articles covering the steampunk scene — makers creating their own alternative Victorian world through modified computers, phones, cars, costumes, and other fantastic creations. Projects include an elegant Wimshurst Influence Machine (an electrostatic generator built entirely from Home Depot parts), a Florence Siphon coffee brewer, and a teacup-powered Stirling engine. This special section also covers watchmaking, letterpress printing, the early multimedia art of William Blake, and other wondrous and lost (or fading) pre-20th-century technologies.

Issue 17 is on major newsstands right now, or can be ordered/read online.  Also, check out the final pages of the magazine, as I’ve got an ad back there for my Etsy shop (which contains instructions for acquiring secret free goodies!).

Thank you.

Photo Show Reception TOMORROW

Should I, after tea and cakes and ices,
Have the strength to force the moment to its crisis?

–The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, T.S. Eliot

I cannot promise cakes and ices, but tomorrow evening, at the Pioneer Square Art Walk, I can offer you an abundance of custom Naftali chocolates, vegan chai lattes, and two different kinds of cube wine [tm]. For free.

Come not to appease my unsubtle wrath, come not for the locally-fabricated manskirts, come not for the hot chicks in 16×20 frames on the walls…come for the free tasty choco bits to put in your facehole. Come for DJ Q of Ectomo who will be dropping dance beats, MC Is who will be spitting into the mic…ok, ok. Come look at the hot chicks.

Details, and postcard, for those who missed them:

Utilikilts Solo Photo Show

Monday, February 16th, 2009

THE PHOTOGRAPHY OF LIBBY BULLOFF
March 1-29, 2009
Reception: Thursday, March 5, 6-11 pm
Pioneer Square Art Walk
Utilikilts Flagship Store
620 1st Avenue, Seattle, WA, 98104

I have a solo art show coming up at the Utilikilts flagship store in Seattle! I will present work from 2007-2009, including new portraits from three studio shoots at Starfish. Prints will be available, as will complimentary snacks (read: custom Naftali chocolates) and dance beats. Please come on out and say hello (and feel free to grope the manskirts whilst you’re at it)!

I’ve also recently booked a small group photography show at Zero Zero (also in Seattle), but this won’t occur until August, which gives me plenty of time to shoot new, brightly-colored work. :)

Spread the word! Thank you!
